Hasselblad’s Masters Photo Contest Is Open To Everyone

The Hasselblad Masters photo competition has been launched by the iconic premium camera company and is still absolutely open for entries.

The competition is aimed at showcasing photography from a whole range of genres and has been going on since way back in 2001. It’s also open to anyone, regardless of skill level or professional qualifications.

Furthermore, in case you’re wondering, no, you don’t need to have used a Hasselblad camera to submit your photos. This is a useful exemption to the contest rules too considering the average price of a Hasselblad camera.

Winners in each category will however win their own Hasselblad X2D camera worth over $8000, along with two lenses and a creative fund gift of 5,000 Euros, which is roughly $ 6016 USD. They’ll also be invited to participate in a special project with the company.

In any case, The Hasselblad Masters photo competition has been open since December 14^th of last year (2023) and will be accepting entries right up until February 29^th of 2024. Finalists will be announced on April 19^th.

The categories for the event are architecture, art, landscape, portrait, street, and Project/21. While the other categories are obvious, the Project/21 category is a bit different.

As you might be guessing, it’s specifically for photographers under the age of 21 and invites innovative work across various styles.

The voting process for choosing winners in the Masters competition is also unique in that it’s decided by a combination of professional jury votes and public voting.

This might make it easier for certain types of photography to win and it also serves to reduce the chances of questions about favoritism by jury members.
